About the artist

Ilvija Žeigure (Juškeviča) is an academic painter with more than 25 years of experience. Painting is an integral part of her daily life — both in her studio and outdoors. Her works are characterized by tenderness, light, and a sense of presence, inviting the viewer to see the beauty and peace of the world in everyday life. The artist's favorite themes are nature and people, their interaction, emotions, and peace in a moment.

Light and shadow, the play of colors and moods occupy a special place in Ilvija's creative practice, and each work is created with a conscious attitude, only in a positive, light mood, believing that a work of art is like a resonator that radiates the energy, feelings and intentions that are put into it. Even as a student, she actively painted individual commissions, including wall and ceiling paintings, and participated in exhibitions. She set up her own studio, where she actively painted and taught others, because she felt that creating art and passing it on to others was her true calling.

Ilvija has extensive experience in teaching painting and visual arts

Over the years, she has worked as a lecturer in art studios, leading regular classes and master classes, as well as a teacher at the Children's Art School in Gulbene.
She has led interest groups and preparatory courses for entrance exams at the Janis Rozentals Art High School, the Latvian Academy of Art, and other art high schools in Latvia. Her students have achieved excellent results.
Extensive experience in organizing and leading educational plein air workshops — working with young people and adults, individually adapting the pace and content of the lessons.
Active involvement in organizing creative events — workshops, exhibitions, and plein air workshops in various municipalities and cultural centers.

Creative work

Ilvija Žeigure is a professional painter who regularly participates in exhibitions and plein air events in Latvia. Her works are held in private collections in Latvia and abroad, and are highly regarded by both viewers and critics.

Her creative path combines academic painting traditions with an intuitive, soulful approach, where areas of color, brushstrokes, and textures flow into one another, creating a harmonious mood and light that brings peace and beauty to each work.

While still a student, she actively participated in joint exhibitions at the Latgale Museum of Cultural History and organized solo exhibitions in cafes, town halls, libraries, and other public spaces. During her professional career, she has regularly and actively organized solo exhibitions in various cities and participated in joint exhibitions with other artists.

Current activities

Ilvija's works are a reflection of the play of light, color, and mood, allowing the viewer to feel both the peace of nature and the warmth of human presence. Currently runs the Mākslas Pietura studio and is involved in events organized by the Cerību spārni association.
